A Message from the Principal...

As we approach the end of the calendar year, we thank the parents and community members for your support of our school through volunteering and encouragement of our students.  We want to thank all those students who participated in the Fall Food Drive for student council, as well as our “regular” crew of volunteers.  We invite winter visitors and families to come get involved at Cottonwood.  Call and ask about becoming a PAWS mentor or classroom volunteer. Your help will make a difference!

In December, our students will be taking benchmark assessments.  Across our school, we are working on learning to be persistent and give the best effort daily.  Please encourage your student to do their best, to not give up when they don’t know the answer right away, and to apply the strategies they have been learning for problem solving.   We have high expectations for our Bobcats, and we want them to feel confident and expect the best from themselves, too.   Please ensure your child is well rested, in school, and on time all through the month so they don’t miss out on the assessments and activities planned.

Many events are on the December calendar; it is a busy month!  Please support our bingo basket item collection and bingo night.  We also invite you to the spelling bee and band concert on the 18th, 4th grade musical on the 19th, PRIDE ceremony and holiday meal on the 21st, and kinder Christmas program on the 21st.  Our celebrations on Friday the 22nd are for students, mentors, and staff only for the “All School Sing”.  Kids can wear their pajamas to school that day.

As always, thank you for your support of Cottonwood                        Elementary, where we are “Building a positive learning community to meet students’ needs and achieve Success for Every One
