We’ve had an excellent first quarter at Cottonwood, and enjoyed seeing our
Cottonwood parents at Parent-Teacher conferences. We appreciate the support
you give your child and their teacher and were happy to have the
chance to collaborate with you about your child’s academic progress. If you
were unable to attend, your child’s teacher will contact you to set up another
meeting time.
We would like to encourage parents and community members to consider
making a tuition tax credit donation to Cottonwood school. Arizona law
allows Arizona taxpayers a tax credit of up to $200 for individuals and $400
for married couples filing a joint return. Donations should be made by the
end of December. The money is used to fund extra-curricular activities,
school related field trips, and other student related activities. Please help our
students enjoy these extra-curricular activities by donating!
November is packed with events at Cottonwood. We will have a special
ceremony in honor of Veteran’s Day on November 8 at 8:15 AM. Students
are encouraged to invite Veterans in their family or neighborhood to join us.
Our holiday meal is November 15. We will be supporting our local food
banks through our annual food drive, please watch for more information in
the coming weeks. Cottonwood-Plus our parent organization is looking for
additional volunteers to support family events. The next Cottonwood Plus
meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at 3:15. Refreshments will
be provided. Younger siblings are welcome. If you are interested, please
contact the school at 836-5601.
Our “Choose Love” focus for first quarter was Courage. Students learned
about being courageous in all aspects of life by making positive choices.
Our Courage wall is filling up with examples of students demonstrating
courage throughout their school days. During second quarter we will be focused
on Gratitude. Gratitude is the ability to be mindful of the good in our
lives even when life is challenging. We will be teaching students to practice
looking all that each of us has to be thankful for every day. We appreciate
our community’s support for our families.
