Cottonwood Principal Biography

 Patricia Dee, Principal

Mrs. Dee grew up in Willcox, Arizona, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She and her husband Shawn relocated to Colorado in 1996 and lived in Stratton, a farming community on the eastern plains, for twelve years.  During that time, Mrs. Dee taught second grade and had a variety of responsibilities at Stratton R-4, including instructional coaching, curriculum development, and school reform efforts focused on differentiated instruction.  She also enjoyed coaching high school cheerleading and Knowledge Bowl. 

In 2006, Mrs. Dee earned a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Adams State University; and began to consider opportunities to move back to Arizona and into administration.   She accepted the position of Teacher on Assignment, and worked at Desert Willow for the 2008/2009 school year.  From 2009-2011, Mrs. Dee was TOA on a split assignment at Desert Willow and Cottonwood.   Mrs. Dee has been Principal at Cottonwood since 2011.   

Mr. and Mrs. Dee have two sons and a daughter. Shawn Jr is attending Central Arizona College, Dalton is a senior at Casa Grande Union High School, and Jayme finished her elementary years at Cottonwood and is an eighth grade CGMS Wildcat.   All five of the Dees enjoy reading, history, and spending time with family. 

Mrs. Dee is committed to Cottonwood’s mission of setting and achieving social and academic goals for each child, to make “Success for Every One” a reality.
