Principal Patricia Dee

 Patricia Dee, Principal

Patty Dee is the principal of Cottonwood Elementary.  This school year marks her seventh as building principal.   Her passion is to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Mrs. Dee is committed to Cottonwood’s mission of building a positive learning community to meet students’ needs and ensure ‘Success for Every One’.

Mrs. Dee grew up in Willcox, Arizona, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  She and her husband Shawn lived in Stratton, Colorado, a farming community on the eastern plains, from 1996-2008.  During that time, Mrs. Dee taught second grade and had a variety of responsibilities at Stratton R-4, including instructional coaching, curriculum development, and school reform efforts focused on differentiated instruction.

In 2006, Mrs. Dee earned a Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Adams State University; and began to consider opportunities to move back to Arizona and into administration.   She accepted the position of Teacher on Assignment and worked at Desert Willow for the 2008/2009 school year.  From 2009-2011, Mrs. Dee was TOA on a split assignment at Desert Willow and Cottonwood.   Mrs. Dee has been Principal at Cottonwood since 2011.

Mr. and Mrs. Dee have two sons and a daughter. Shawn Jr is attending Central Arizona College, Dalton just graduated high school and has enlisted in the Marine Corp, and Jayme is a freshman at CGUHS. The Dee children have attended Casa Grande public schools, and Mr. Dee spends time volunteering at Cottonwood. All five of the Dees enjoy reading, music, history, and spending time as a family.
